What to Expect
The sessions are inspiring, nourishing, reflective and transformational. After understanding your issues and goals, I will help you examine your conscious and unconscious thoughts, resisting patterns, suppressed emotions, memories and conflicts.
Whether you are looking to clear residual emotions of an ex-relationship, address conflicts in your life, bring balance and motivation, perform better, improve intimacy, or release guilt, fears or the past, I will help you connect with your higher and true potential. Specifically, I will help you identify thoughts, patterns, memories and emotions that keep you stuck.
Apart from the Western psychotherapeutic techniques, I may use Eastern spiritual techniques such as Meditation, Yoga Nidra, Pranayam (yogic breathing) for deep relaxation or energizing depending on the client’s goals and needs.
You will also receive handy tools for self-reflection and you may be given hand-outs, thought diary journals, inspirational articles, audio recordings of meditation, breathing re-training and deep relaxation exercises.
Counselling for Teenagers
Teenagers: solution-focused rather than problem exploration-focused, which teaches the teenagers skill sets and techniques to evaluate their choices, problems and goals. Teenagers’ brains are not wired to grasp consequences and delay gratification. As teenagers are less averse to risk, making rational choices about their own well-being can be more challenging as they have a reduced ability to utilise their frontal lobes while young, hence their brains are not wired up to weight distant consequences. Nivedita uses a combination of mindfulness, CBT, EMDR, solution-focused breath therapy, which help amplify and connect with their strengths, resources, problem-solving, competence.
For new clients, I recommend an initial consultation to help identify the therapeutic approach for your child’s treatment.
